Leverkusen, October 24, 2017 – The renowned rating organization CDP has once again ranked Bayer as one of the leading international companies for climate protection and sustainable water management. In its comparative study of more than 1,000 publicly listed companies, CDP focused on their strategic approach to the challenges of climate change and the most valuable natural resource: water.
Bayer was awarded leadership status in both climate protection and sustainable water management. The company thus confirmed its top ratings from the preceding years in both categories. CDP gathers and evaluates the world’s most comprehensive publicly accessible collection of company climate and water data.
“We are delighted to once again be recognized by CDP,” says Dr. Hartmut Klusik, the Bayer AG Board of Management member responsible for Human Resources, Technology and Sustainability. “Climate and water are two key areas of sustainable corporate governance. We want to make positive contributions to climate protection and to coping with the consequences of climate change, which include water scarcity. We therefore place tremendous value on the efficient use and protection of water in our own production and promote the conservation of this resource along the entire value chain – such as through our innovative solutions for agriculture.”
The non-profit organization CDP reports that for its 2017 climate and water rankings, it has evaluated company data on behalf of 827 institutional investors representing substantial fund assets of more than USD 100 trillion. According to CDP, the investors use this information to help reach their investment decisions.
